Sentinel Flavor Tabs for Dogs Review
A Tasty Way to Fight Fleas and Worms
Do you want a great way to control fleas and worms in your dog without spending a fortune on expensive treatments that may or may not work?
By the end of the article we’ll cover the ingredients, dosages and share the opinions of others who have used Sentinel Flavor Tabs.
Sentinel claims that their Flavor Tabs treat five different types of parasites that can infest your pet. Since the next leading product only treats three different types of worms, and has the same cost, it would only be logical to use the product that covers more infestations without spending more money.
The Flavor Tabs are marketed as treating:
There are two active ingredients in Sentinel Flavor Tabs.
- Milbemycin Oxime
How Sentinel Flavor Tabs Work
Milbemycin Oxime is a macrocyclic anthelmintic that works by interfering with neurotransmission with various invertebrates. What this means is that when the heartworms move from the egg to the larval stage, the medicine prevents the eggs from forming skin around the larva, causing them to immediately die during the transformation.
It does the same thing for roundworms and whipworms, but doesn’t activate until they move from larva to adult. This means you may still notice eggs after the treatment but they will not hatch or will hatch but die before they can become adults and cause harm to your pet.
Lufenuron is for treating fleas and works well with mibemycon oxime. It does not kill adult fleas but works by infesting the blood of your pet. When the female flea bites, it is getting blood to help with egg production. The medicine enters the female flea and then the eggs, preventing them from hatching and breaking the life cycle of the insect.
You should give you dog the appropriate Flavor Tab once a month. The dosages are based upon weight and start at 2 pounds. You should also make sure that you give it to your dog immediately following a meal to prevent nausea.
What are Users Saying?
People who have used this product often notice no change for the first month. This is because the medicine does not immediately kill all of the adult animals, but causes them to stop breeding and breaks the life cycle.
The only negatives were from people who notice that their pets seemed lethargic, but this may be caused by the extra protein released when the eggs and larva break down in the animal’s body.
Side Effects and Precautions
There were occasional cases of vomiting, depression, pruritus, urticaria, diarrhea, anorexia, and skin congestion. Most of these cleared up with 48 to 72 hours after the dose. If they last longer, please consult your veterinarian.
You should be careful not to give this product to any puppies that are less than 12 weeks old or who are less than 2 pounds.
You should also take the warning about meals seriously and only administer the Flavor Tabs after your dog has eaten a full meal.
It is also not safe for pregnant or nursing dogs because of the risk of transferring the drugs to the puppies through the placenta or breast milk.
We would highly recommend Sentinel Flavor Tabs because of the lack of side effects and the gentle way in which it treats the animals. Since there is no direct poison involved that could kill the adult parasites, there is no poison which could cause harm to your pet.
