Frontline Flea Control Side Effects

Frontline Plus side effects

Frontline Plus is a valuable weapon in fighting flea infestations and ensuring your pet’s comfort.

However, there has been some concern about the potential side effects of topical flea and tick products. There have been reports of dogs and cats experiencing one or more of the following side effects:

Vomiting – Diarrhea – Salivation – Itching – Hair Loss – Nervousness – Tremors – Seizures

While the side effects may sound alarming, they are very rare and if products such as Frontline are used properly, they are very safe and effective.

Most of the adverse side effects occur when the products are not used correctly and according to package directions. For example, if the product intended for a dog that is 50 pounds is applied to a dog weighing 10 pounds, problems could occur.

A pet owners best defense is to always take the time to carefully read all package directions and inserts included with the product prior to administering any flea and tick treatment. Products such as Frontline Plus have very specific warnings and directions that should be followed.

Frontline and Frontline Plus are proven effective and safe. When used properly, Frontline Plus kills fleas and ticks within hours of application and keeps killing for a month. It is approved for use on puppies and kittens 8 weeks of age and older. It is also approved for use on breeding, pregnant, or lactating cats and dogs.

One of the most challenging aspects to getting rid of fleas and ticks in your home and on your pet is breaking the life cycle. With many products, getting rid of the fleas may be only a temporary fix. There may still be eggs that will hatch and re-infest the treated areas and animals. Frontline Plus can help break this flea life cycle by also killing flea eggs and larvae.

Pet owners need not be afraid to use topical flea and tick treatments. If directions are followed, they can be one of the best defenses during this flea and tick season.
